Scientific research is the cornerstone of development in all pharmaceutical fields, as it guides progress in pharmaceutical industry to discover novel treatments for diseases. On the other hand, postgraduate studies can produce generations of scientists and specialists who, by virtue of their ideas and innovations, can achieve prosperous future to our country. The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing, Misr University for Science and Technology has a prominent role in postgraduate studies and applied scientific research by offering distinguished postgraduate programs, and spreading scientific awareness through innovative courses, seminars, workshops, and supporting applied scientific research that achieves the vision of the university and the state for scientific research

Admission Rules
- The academic year for postgraduate studies begins in proportion to the academic calendar of the university and is within two weeks of the beginning of the study at the university and is announced in July of each year and continues for one academic year. The study will be for two semesters (Fall semester and Spring semester), followed by a study vacation, then at the end of each semester exams are determined by the College Council. The College Council may decide to open a summer semester (July and August) for a period of eight weeks, including exams, with doubling the number of teaching hours per week
- Applications for admission to a master’s degree are submitted to the Postgraduate Studies sector in the college once per year during August, and admission result is announced the early of September after completing all the documents and paying the fees. Provided that the registration of the teaching assistants appointed in the scientific department of the college providing the master’s program is completed before considering the registration of students applying from outside the university
- The college adopts the credit hours system for study
- The credit hour is a unit of measurement to determine the weight of each course in one semester. It is equivalent to 1 hour theoretical lecture per week or 2-3 hrs/week of laboratory or applied exercises throughout the semester
- A student is allowed to register in the Fall and Spring semesters for not more than 14 credit hours per semester. The student is also allowed to register in the summer semester for not more than 6 credit hours
- After the approval of the Department offering the master’s program and according to the nature of courses, the College Council may decide to teach one or more courses in the blended education, so that the study in the course is 60-70% face-to-face and 30-40% by distance education system or by any other means. Provided that this is presented to the University Council of Postgraduate Studies for approval and submitted to the University Council for approval
- Fifty marks are allocated for evaluation of one credit hour evaluation
- The following is required for a student to be enrolled for a master’s degree:
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy with a general grade at least Good from one of the faculties of pharmacy in Egyptian universities or any other scientific institute certified by the Supreme Council of Universities, as well as a grade of at least very good in the average of the specialized courses as determined by the relevant department council
- The student should devote himself to studying at least two days per week during the Pre-Masters study
- The student is admitted after fulfilling the following general conditions:
Obtaining the approval of the relevant department council.
Completion of all documents required by the Postgraduate Studies sector of the college (Bachelor’s degree – grades certificate – military status “males only”- birth certificate).
Employer’s approval of student’s study in the postgraduate degree for which he is applying, as well as granting him the required time to study and identifying the location for performing laboratory experiments for students’ practical research
- The department council may add other requirements that seem necessary for admission to new students and determine the number of accepted students according to the capabilities available in the department and college. The number of students is determined by the Pharmaceutical Studies Sector Committee according to the human capabilities of the department and the college
- A postgraduate student may not enroll his name in more than one diploma or higher academic degree at the same time, whether in his university or in any other university or institute

The total number of credit hours for obtaining a master’s degree is 42 credit hours according to the following:
8 credit hours General Courses
12 credit hours Compulsory special courses
4 credit hours Elective special courses
18 credit hours A scientific thesis on a research topic determined by the principal supervisor and approved by department council’s offering the master’s degree program, the Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee Research and the College Council

In the Shanghai academic ranking in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences for the year 2022, our college was ranked among the top 400 universities worldwide and 12th in Egypt. This rocketing trend continued, leading to our current ranking among the top 300 universities worldwide in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Pharmaceutical Sciences for the year 2023.
